WASSUP CANADA?
I feel like I haven't been on this blogger in so long, we have been really busy plus I lost my iTouch or it went missing so there are not too many opportunities for me to writ alllllll about our trip on this website. I swear the blogs are going to keep on coming, but it might be a little later or after the trip. Rest assured, I won't forget to mention anything, as I wrote down notes of what to let you know about.
PS. So far, the grossest things we ate are: Guinea pig (Alex, she had no idea), Cow intestines with shit inside (Alex and I, we had no idea), Dulce de Vaca which is made with the stuff inside the leg bone of a cow (Alex and I, we had no idea), chicken stomach (Alex and I, again, we only found out after we ate it)...Merci Dani, haha. Do I forget anything? Oh! There are frogs, dogs, and spiders coming in and out of the summer house... This is no place for little girls!!!...But this just makes me love Colombia even more. We would not call it travelling if it were just like home, would we?

Los primeros días en Colombia
Daniela and I landed at the airport in Bogota at 8:30PM, as scheduled. We then had to wait a good 25 minutes in line to get to where the people stamped our passports and let us into the country. It was really hot and there were 100 kids, the same ones that were on the plane with us. When we got towards the exit we heard people yell as if they were on a roller coaster or something, everybody was yelling, it was crazy!!! And then we saw Daniela's parents, her sister Laura and her friend, and Dani's brother Carlos. I got in the car with Dani and her parents and we drove through Bogota to get to Laura and Carlos' apartment in the city, which they have since they go to university there. As soon as we got here we opened our luggage and started getting ready for our first night out! Laura came with the three of us and her two guy friends came to pick us up to go to the bar. If you can count well, you'll have realized that 6 people normally can't fit in a car, but in Colombia there pretty much are no rules on the roads except maybe for speeding. Therefore, the four of us girls sat at the back, and the boys drove us to where all the bars are. We took some cash out and more of the guys' friends joined us and they had us do shots of aguardiente antoquieno from the bottle (sin azucar! lol) which is the hard alcohol of the country that tastes like licorice. People just drink on the streets and no one seems to care, and some specific nights young people all go outside in a park and drink before going to the bar. We then went to a terrasse bar which was on the 6th floor of a building, and Laura's friends paid for bottle service the WHOLE night. Crazy! But they were all really nice, and Colombians in general want their guests to feel at home and welcome. We definitely were treated like Queens! One of Lauras friends, Moon a guy from Korea, bought us four roses at the end of the night outside the bar, that was so nice of him. We got back around 4AM and our feet were killing from dancing all night long, but we definitely had a blast there. One thing that was king of annoying is that only Danis cellphone would get signal from the WiFi internet, which gives us access to BBM and internet for free, but mine and Alex's would not work for some reason... But now for an even weirder reason, my cellphone gets signal but Alex's still doesnt, haha. We only get WiFi connection at the apartment anyway so it refrains us from being on our cellphones all day, which is a good thing since we want to enjoy our trip!
The next morning we woke up around 11AM, had traditional colombian breakfast here, and then left to buy a few souvenirs for the family where Carlos Jr. is going to be staying in the U.S., and we bought a charger for my camera (rememeber how I mentioned I left it at home? Yeah, not my smoothest move, haha). Then we went to Andres, this AMAZING restaurant which serves traditional colombian food. You go to each station and order the food you want, and the food is very rich with lots of potatoes, beef, chicken, pork, corn, planteins,... The food is amazing and we eat like pigs, which makes us want to take a siesta after every meal, lol. We went walking around the mall where the resto was for a while, then came back here and took a mini nap. We then all went out to a big club, all us four girls, two of Laura's friends, and Carlos, since it was his last night in Bogota before leaving for the airport at 4:30AM. Again we did shots of aguardiente (about 8, but not in a row...People don't really sip on drinks here, they just do shots, shots, shots shots shots shots eeerrrybody! haha) and danced for a good while, then went to get colombian fast food which was very satisfying. Carlos probably got an hour of sleep before he had to leave with Dani and their parents to the airport, but I'm sure he left happy about his last night!
On a last note, Alex tried to hold in her vomit for about 3 hours this morning (She wanted me to mention it lol)... She was not in the best shape after all those shots, haha. Today we went to el Museo de Oro and to Monserrate in Bogota, which are a gold museum and a big mountain on which there are really nice restaurants and a big church (and the view is AMAZING), respectively. This being said, I am getting tired and this blog entry has been long enough for today, haha. I will try to upload a picture or two soon for you guys to be able to travel with us... :)

April 28th
I am currently on the flight from Quebec to Toronto and everything has been going pretty smoothly. I am exhausted from not being able to sleep until about four AM last night and having to get up at 7. Talking to Daniela before getting on the plane, I realized that I forgot to bring a bunch of things like my boots and most importantly, the charger of the battery for the camera I bought specifically for this trip!!! Lame, I know. I am just hoping to be able to buy a charger at the airport in Toronto or ASAP in Bogota because if you didn't know already I am going to go crazy with the picture taking. I got my 'paparazzi' nickname from Anna and Erin for a reason, haha. The flight is supposed to be an hour and fifteen minutes in duration, then my flight to
Bogota is supposed to land around 8:30 tonight. Which reminds me that there is a 1 hour difference with Canada in Colombia, and so if it's 9pm in Quebec it would be 8pm over there. I am so excited to see Daniela and for us to be on the same flight! We are going to try to get seats next to each other since we booked our tickets independently of one another. We're gonna give the flight attendant our biggest smile if it's a he or say that one of us is scared of flights so we need to be sitting next to each other if it's a she. We got this one folks!!! We absolutely have to be able to do what we girls do best: talk, and talk... And talk. Then we're going to get to Bogota where Alex Greenwood is going to be welcoming us with Daniela's family. I can't wait to meet them, although I feel like I already know them through Daniela telling me about then. The parents' names are Carlos and Martha, and her sister's name is Laura and her brother is Carlos... Junior I guess, lol. I just thought I would mention their names now just in case refer to them later in future blogs.
Fiesta esta noche for Carlos Jr. since he is going on exchange in the States at the beginning of May. Let's do this, rrrrrrrrrumbaaaaaa!!!!
Well, this is all very nice but the pretzels and apple juice I just had want out. Ah! Plane bathrooms, my favorite........

10 días
Ten days left before I fly from Quebec city to Toronto, with Bogota as a final destination. I have to say that I have mixed feelings about leaving. On the one hand, I am so excited to get to Colombia, meet Daniela's family, experience her culture, and get to know the other "50% of herself", as she puts it. On the other hand, leaving Lennoxville, which has been my home for the last four years, is definitely having to go through intense emotions. But then I tell myself, I guess we all have to leave and graduate at some point ... right? Maybe I'm wrong. Although I did come to this place with the idea to eventually graduate and get my B.A., haha. Now what? We'll see once I will be back from Colombia to convocate (May 28th by the way, be there !!).
I will be bringing my itouch with me to Colombia, and be writing a journal before going to bed as often as possible, just to update you all about our trip. Then as soon as there is going to be WiFi internet available, I will post my writings on this blog and upload pictures if I can. Feel free to comment, message me here, or email me, as I will be avoiding Facebook for practical reasons.
